LOG ENTRY: DAY 01 - THE KANTO RELAPSE

I touched down in Pallet Town at 0400 hours. The air smells like nostalgia and pixelated grass. I’ve run this circuit a thousand times, but this simulation—designated Fire Red 169—promised me something the vanilla timeline never could: Total. Ecological. Domination.

My Pokedex is vibrating. It’s not the standard regional model; the tech here grants the National Dex at the start. This is crucial. I don’t have to wait until the Sevii Islands to start cataloging the foreign entities. I can see the empty slots immediately. Slot #001 to #386. They are mocking me. I need to fill them.

THE EVOLUTION ANOMALY

I approached a Kadabra, ready for the usual heartbreak of it being stuck in limbo forever because I have nobody to link with in this sector. But the local physics are different. Living Dex is possible without cheats. The trade evolutions have been patched out. My Kadabra evolved through sheer force of will (and leveling). This is the dopamine hit I was looking for. No Link Cables required, though I still checked the Celadon Department Store out of habit.

FIELD NOTE: Keep an eye on the level caps. Without trade restrictions, Alakazam and Gengar become early-game nukes. Threat level to game balance: High. Fun level: Critical.

MOBILITY & QOL

The greatest technological advancement in this region isn't the Master Ball; it's the shoes. Indoor running shoes are functional. I repeat: I can sprint inside the Pokemon Center. I calculated the time saved over a standard 40-hour run; we are talking about approximately 45 minutes of saved backtracking. That’s 45 minutes I can spend hunting Chansey in the Safari Zone.

However, the region feels... dated. It’s a 2018 snapshot. No physical/special split observed. No Fairy types detected. It’s raw, Gen 3 mechanics. If you are looking for modern amenities like DexNav, you are in the wrong timeline. This is for the purists who just want the numbers to go up without the trade barriers.

THE CATCH REPORT

The intel claimed "Catchable all Pokemon." I tested this rigorously. LeafGreen exclusives are roaming freely in FireRed territory. It’s a biological melting pot. I spent 4 hours in the grass on Route 1 just to see if the encounter tables were broken. They aren't, but the variety is spiked.

100% completion took me 52 hours. That includes grinding for the pseudo-legendaries. The lack of modern breeding mechanics slowed me down, but the availability of wild encounters balanced it out.

WARNING: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. Specifically, the legendary encounters. They don't respawn if you faint them. This isn't the modern era where the game holds your hand. Bring Paralysis. Bring Timer Balls. Do not fail me.

FINAL LOG

Fire Red 169 isn't a reimaging; it's a utility patch. It removes the friction of the original Kanto run. It doesn't add a Battle Frontier, and it doesn't expand the story, but it scratches the itch. The itch to see "Caught: 386" without buying a second GameBoy.
