MISSION LOG: DAY 1 - THE CHEETO SECTOR
I have infiltrated the Cheeto Region. My heart rate is currently 140 BPM. Why? Because the local hostile faction, 'Team Hippy', has a stated goal of destroying all technology. Do you understand the implications of this? If they destroy technology, they destroy the PC Storage System. They are not just terrorists; they are an existential threat to my Living Dex. I cannot allow my collection to be deleted. I will dismantle them, pixel by pixel.
THE STARTER ANOMALY: PORYGON 5.0
Standard operating procedure usually dictates agonizing over a Fire/Water/Grass triangle. Not here. The local Professor (RIP, blown up immediately—inefficient cutscene duration, 10/10 for speed) bequeathed a Porygon 5.0. Intelligence suggests this unit possesses six interchangeable evolutions. My completionist brain is vibrating. Does this count as one Dex entry or seven? Can I swap forms on the fly to exploit type matchups?
I have confirmed the presence of a new 'Tech Type'. This complicates the type chart matrix. I need to update my spreadsheets immediately. If I encounter a shiny Tech-type and don't know its weakness, I might faint it. Unacceptable risk.
NAVIGATION & QOL: MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY
I nearly wept when I opened the Key Items pocket. HMs are gone. Replaced by tools: Grappling Hooks, Water Tubes, Shears. Do you know what this means? It means I don't need a dedicated HM slave Bidoof taking up a slot that could be used for a Syncronize Ralts or a False Swipe Breloom. This is optimal design. This is how Arceus intended us to travel.
FIELD NOTE: The protagonist uses a Scooter instead of a Bike. Velocity is acceptable, though the turning radius feels distinct from the Acro Bike.
THE CATCHABILITY INDEX
The region is populated with a mix of standard entities and anomalies. The humor is pervasive—donuts, apple pies, references to the protagonist's weight. While I usually filter out dialogue to optimize speed, the 'Fat Kid' narrative explains the running shoes upgrade (or lack thereof initially). It’s immersive in a chaotic way.
However, I must issue a Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. The version number indicates Beta 1.2.4. In my experience, 'Beta' is code for 'The map might dissolve if you walk into the wrong wall'. I found myself stuck in a texture loop near the second town. Save often. Rotate your save slots.
THE VERDICT
Is the Pokedex completeable? Living Dex is possible without cheats, provided you navigate the Beta anomalies correctly. The interchangeable Porygon forms are a mechanic I wish the main timeline would adopt. However, the threat of Team Hippy is real—not to the world, but to the stability of the ROM itself.
The game lacks the polish of a Level 100 masterpiece like Unbound, but the removal of HMs and the unique Tech typing make it a worthy expedition for those tired of the standard Gym challenge. Just don't expect a Battle Frontier.
