LOG START: REGION ENTRY

Timestamp: 04:00 Hours
Location: Littleroot Operations Base
Current Pokedex: 0/672

I’ve touched down in the Eternal Snow sector. My neurological itch is already flaring up. The intel promised a biological census of 672 distinct species. That is not a typo. That is a challenge. I have packed extra batteries, three notebooks, and enough Max Repels to choke a Wailord. The atmosphere here feels... expanded. We aren't just looking at Hoenn topography; radar indicates landmasses extending into Kanto and potentially Sinnoh sectors. Three Leagues? Eighteen Gyms? My completionist heart is palpitating. Or that might be the caffeine.

THE CENSUS: 672 SLOTS

The first thing I checked was the DexNav capabilities. We are looking at a roster that spans roughly five generations. The addition of the Fairy-type to the local ecosystem alters the threat assessment significantly. Dragons are no longer the apex predators they were in the standard Emerald timeline.

However, a warning to fellow collectors: The distribution feels chaotic. I found species in habitats that make zero ecological sense. It’s a scattershot approach. You want a Living Dex? You're going to be digging through every patch of grass like a Truffle Pig. Living Dex is possible without cheats, theoretically, but the encounter rates are erratic. I spent three hours in a single route looking for a 1% encounter. My eyes are bleeding.

FIELD NOTE: Keep your eyes peeled for the Eevee variants. All eight evolutions have been spotted in the wild. No need to scramble for stones if you know where to look.

THE GRIND: 18 GYM BADGES

I hope you like battling, because this region is a gauntlet. The level curve doesn't just climb; it skyrockets. By the time I hit the second League, my team was pushing Level 70. This isn't a casual stroll; it's an endurance run.

  • Threat Level: High. Trainers are everywhere.
  • Pacing: Inconsistent. Sometimes you go hours without a Gym, then hit three in a row.
  • Anomalies: I encountered several visual glitches in the transition zones between regions. The fabric of reality (tilesets) gets a bit thin when you stretch the map this wide.

Post-game is massive. Battle Frontier included. But getting there requires slogging through what essentially amounts to three entire games stitched together. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. If you burn out easily, you won't make it to the 100% mark.

THE CATCHABILITY REPORT

Here is the reality of the situation. The game offers volume, but lacks the polish of a localized phenomenon like Unbound. There are no fancy DexNav chaining mechanics here to make the shiny hunt easier. You are hunting the old-fashioned way: Random Encounters and Prayer.

WARNING: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave north of the second region's capital. I triggered a legendary encounter without prepping my paralysis support, and if I hadn't save-scummed, that slot would be empty forever. Unacceptable design.

MISSION VERDICT

I am currently sitting at 82% Pokedex Completion after 68 hours and 14 minutes. The sheer size of Pokemon Eternal Snow is its greatest asset and its biggest flaw. It satisfies the hunger for "More," but lacks the flavor of "Better." It is a brute-force approach to ROM Hacking. If you need to kill 100 hours and catch 600+ mons, this is your deployment. If you want a curated experience, look elsewhere.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go breed 40 eggs to get the right nature for the third Elite Four run. Sleep is for the weak.
