MISSION LOG: DAY 1 - THE OMNITRIX INCIDENT
Location: Littleroot Town (Or is it? Readings are unstable.)
Status: Hyper-fixated. Pulse elevated.
I dropped into the Hoenn region expecting the usual Zigzagoon greeting party. Instead, I was ambushed by a Wildmutt. I checked my Pokedex—sorry, my Omnitrix Database—and realized my spreadsheets were useless. This isn't a biological ecosystem; it's an intergalactic cataloging nightmare. And I absolutely have to complete it.
My mission parameters shifted immediately. We aren't catching pocket monsters; we are scanning DNA samples from the Ben 10 universe. The developer, aleZgamerXD, has essentially overwritten the local fauna with extraterrestrial combatants. For a completionist, this is both a dream and a panic attack. Does a Pyronite have a shiny form? Does Alien X count as a Mythical? I need answers.
THE COLLECTION PROTOCOL (THE ROSTER)
The standard Hoenn Dex is gone. In its place is a comprehensive list of aliens spanning the original series, Alien Force, Ultimate Alien, and Omniverse. Visually, the sprite work is distinct. Seeing a tiny Grey Matter follow you around (if followers were implemented, which sadly they aren't) or battling with a massive Humungousaur brings a chaotic energy to the region.
However, my obsessive need for order is struggling. The evolution lines mimic the show's logic—Swampfire evolving into Ultimate Swampfire—but the typing charts require relearning. I spent three hours grinding a Diamondhead only to realize I didn't know its weaknesses. Living Dex is possible without cheats, mostly because the encounters are shuffled to ensure you can find these aliens in the wild, but the distribution feels random at times. Finding a high-tier alien in a low-tier route threw off my pacing.
MECHANICAL ANOMALIES & QOL
Here is where the report gets gritty. This is built on the Emerald engine, and it feels like the Emerald engine. I was praying for modern amenities.
- The Grind: The difficulty curve is inconsistent. Some aliens have base stats that obliterate early game gyms, while others lag behind.
- The Movesets: Many aliens still rely on standard Pokemon move pools that don't always fit their lore. Seeing an alien use "Tackle" breaks immersion slightly, but I'll allow it for the sake of the grind.
- Post-Game: Since this is Emerald base, the Post-game is massive. Battle Frontier included. Taking a team of Ultimate Aliens into the Battle Pike is a surreal power trip that I highly recommend.
FIELD NOTE: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave where you suspect a Legendary Alien resides. The catch rates feel unaltered, meaning you will be throwing dozens of Poke Balls (or "DNA Pods") at them.
THE VERDICT
100% completion took me 85 hours. A significant portion of that was just staring at the sprite art and trying to figure out which alien replaced which Pokemon slot to ensure I didn't miss a slot in the PC boxes. It is a manic, messy, nostalgic trip.
It lacks the high-end polish of a ROM like Unbound—I didn't find a dedicated "Stat Scanner" or an "Infinite Repel system" (my kingdom for one!)—but the sheer novelty of filling a box with To'kustars and Petrosapiens kept my dopamine receptors firing. It's a sprite-swap at its core, but one done with enough love for the source material to keep a collector engaged.
