LOG ENTRY: DAY 1 - THE STARTER ANOMALY
My hands are shaking. Not from fear, but from the anticipation of filling Slot #448 immediately. The local professor didn't offer me a Treecko. No Mudkip. He handed me a Lucario. Straight up. Level 5. This breaks every evolutionary law in the handbook. Usually, you have to grind friendship levels until your feet bleed to get Riolu to evolve, but here? We start at the peak. It’s efficient, but it makes me nervous about the rest of the Pokedex distribution. If they hand you a pseudo-legendary equivalent at the door, what are the Gym Leaders packing?
THE LANDSCAPE: VISUAL OVERHAUL
The region looks different. The tilesets have been scrubbed and replaced. It's not the Hoenn I memorized down to the pixel. The grass looks greener, the buildings sharper. It helps with the immersion, but I'm not here for sightseeing. I'm here for the data. I spent 4 hours in the opening route just to confirm the encounter tables. Living Dex is possible without cheats, at least for the early game fauna. I found the other starters (Pikachu and Eevee) roaming wild later on. This is critical. If I had to trade to get a Raichu, I would have burned this cartridge.
THE PIT OF 100 TRIALS
This is the meat. The promo data mentioned a "Pit of 100 Trials." I found it. It's not for the weak. It’s a gauntlet. No healing items allowed inside? That’s the rumor. I went in with a team of level 60s and barely scraped by floor 20. This is the endgame content I crave. It reminds me of the Orre region simulations.
Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. If you wipe in the Pit, you lose progress. Do not rely on auto-saves. Hard save. Twice.
THE CATCHABILITY REPORT
Here is the breakdown. The base is Emerald, which is the gold standard for Gen 3. That means the Post-game is massive. Battle Frontier included. But this "Beta 8" designation on my comms log worries me. I encountered a few texture glitches near the oceanic routes—glitch cities in the making. The Pokedex seems expanded, but I'm stuck at 98% completion because I can't find where they hid the Gen 4 evolutions. If I can't evolve my Magneton because there's no magnetic field zone coded in, I'm going to lose my mind.
FINAL ANALYSIS
It’s a fresh coat of paint on a classic engine with a bizarre starter twist. The Pit adds hours of grinding (my favorite pastime), but the lack of documentation on specific evolution methods for the non-Hoenn dex additions is a nightmare for a completionist. I need a spreadsheet. I need a guide. I need to know if Deoxys is under a truck somewhere.
