MISSION LOG: DAY 42 - THE TRIPLE REGION CONVERGENCE
My hands are shaking. I haven't blinked in forty minutes. The Pokedex counter currently reads 381/386. I am so close to the dopamine release of a completed database that I can taste the pixels. This isn't just Hoenn anymore. The reality of this sector has been warped to include the Kanto and Johto landmasses, grafted directly onto the southern hemisphere of our known world.
The architecture in Kanto looks suspiciously similar to Hoenn's—a visual anomaly caused by the reused tileset technology—but the biology is distinct. The sheer volume of data here is overwhelming.
THE HUNTING GROUNDS
This expedition is built on the chassis of the Emerald Final Deluxe protocol, which is music to my ears. It means the foundational technology for efficient capture is already installed. Living Dex is possible without cheats. I repeat: No GameShark needed. Every single entity is available within the simulation boundaries.
I encountered the Johto starters roaming freely. The distribution algorithms have been rewritten. You don't just pick a starter; you hunt the others down in the wild. This is how it should be. No trade evolutions blocking my path—the Link Stone technology is presumably active or unnecessary given the base code.
FIELD NOTE: The Gym Leaders in the Kanto/Johto sectors have calibrated their Threat Levels to match a mid-journey Hoenn trainer (approx. Wattson level). Do not go in expecting an endgame beatdown immediately, but do not underestimate the sheer attrition of a three-region marathon.
LOGISTICS AND NAVIGATION
Here is where the mission gets complicated. While the Hoenn sector allows for standard aerial transport (Fly), the atmospheric conditions in Kanto and Johto prevent it. You are grounded. You have to rely on the Magnet Train between Saffron and Goldenrod or your own two feet.
For a completionist, this is a friction point. I need to check a swarm in Route 32 and then immediately head to Celadon? I can't just warp. It slows down the loop. However, the semi-open world structure allows for non-linear engagement, which soothes my need for freedom.
THE ENDGAME
Post-game is massive. Battle Frontier included. You finish the gym circuit, and you still have the Battle Frontier in Hoenn to test your perfectly IV-bred specimens. Plus, the Sevii Islands are accessible via Surf. It is a endless buffet of content.
I spent 4 hours just grinding the Match Call system. The Pokenav has been updated to track high-value targets—Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, even villains. They don't just vanish; they remain for re-engagement. This is crucial for leveling the B-Team for the living dex evolution requirements.
FINAL ANALYSIS
The visual repetition of Hoenn assets in Kanto/Johto is a minor immersion break, but the density of catchable species makes up for it. It feels like a fever dream where the world never ends. 100% completion took me 85 hours. And I would do it again. Slot #386 is calling my name.
