MISSION LOG: DAY 0 - THE VERSION NUMBER PARADOX
I've dropped into the Hoenn sector, coordinates set for Pokemon Emerald DX. My initial scan of the metadata is causing me physical pain. The Archive tags read "Completed," but the version stamp clearly says Beta v0.5. Which is it? Is the National Dex complete, or am I going to hit an invisible wall on Route 123? I don't sleep until I see that 100% flag, and this ambiguity is making my eye twitch.
THE TERRAIN: VISUAL UPGRADES
Okay, credit where it's due. The "upgraded art" mentioned in the briefing is legit. The tilesets have been polished. It's not just a palette swap; it feels like a genuine restoration project. The visual landscape of this region is vibrant, unlike anything in the standard Gen 3 sector. But pretty trees don't fill Pokedex slots.
MECHANICAL ANOMALIES
I'm attempting to verify the creature availability. My spreadsheets are open, but the data is inconsistent due to the Beta status. I found the physical/special split is active—standard protocol for any modern operation. However, I'm getting static on the location data.
FIELD NOTE: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. Since this is a v0.5 build, collision data might be unstable. I got stuck on a rock in Granite Cave and had to reset. Save often. Save obsessively.
THE COMPLETIONIST'S NIGHTMARE
I am trying to confirm if a Living Dex is possible without cheats. In a completed hack, this is my religion. In a Beta? It's a gamble. I spent three hours DexNav-ing (metaphorically) for a specific encounter on Route 102, but the table seems vanilla. Without a confirmed changelog, I'm flying blind. 100% completion took me 85 hours in the original Emerald, and I was prepared to do it again, but I can't commit to the grind if the save file won't transfer to v1.0.
FINAL ANALYSIS
The QoL features are present but feel like they are in a prototype phase. I'm desperately looking for the Best QoL: Infinite Repel system, but haven't engaged it yet. Until the version number hits 1.0 or the "Completed" tag is verified by a deeper expedition, I cannot recommend this for a full Living Dex run.
