MISSION REPORT: ELECTRO BALL REGION — ALPHA EXPEDITION

Explorer: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
Region: Electro Ball
Base Sector: FireRed Protocol
Build Status: ALPHA 1
Expedition Duration: 12 hours (INCOMPLETE — See Below)

INITIAL ASSESSMENT

Okay. OKAY. Deep breaths, Ace. Let me get this out of my system first: this region is in Alpha state. Alpha. As in "we're still building the foundation." My Pokedex completion instincts were SCREAMING the moment I booted this up, and friends, they were right to scream.

The Intel promised Gen I through Gen VI availability — that's 721 potential entries. My spreadsheet was READY. My color-coded tabs were ORGANIZED. I had a whole weekend blocked off. And then reality hit like a Hyper Beam to the face.

THE LANDSCAPE

Visually? The region shows promise. New tiles, updated overworlds, and those Gen VI sprites are crisp. The graphical overhaul is genuinely impressive for an alpha build — whoever handled the visual assets knew what they were doing. The decapitalization is clean, no weird formatting artifacts that I could detect.

The four-starter selection at the beginning had me vibrating with excitement. Four starters means four separate playthroughs for a Living Dex, but that's a GOOD problem to have. The Physical/Special/Status Split is implemented, which is baseline mandatory for any serious expedition in my book.

Ash and Brock traveling with you is... an interesting regional phenomenon. Adds flavor to the journey, though I found myself wishing I could trade with them for version exclusives. (Spoiler: you cannot.)

POKEDEX VIABILITY ASSESSMENT

CRITICAL WARNING: Living Dex completion status is UNVERIFIABLE in current build.

Here's where my obsessive documentation habits ran into a brick wall. The alpha state means:

  • Encounter tables appear incomplete in later areas
  • Evolution methods for trade evolutions are UNDOCUMENTED — I could not confirm if a Link Cable item is available in Department Store or anywhere else
  • Mythical/Legendary availability is a complete mystery
  • Post-game content appears truncated or unfinished

I spent 4.7 hours just trying to map out what WAS catchable versus what was placeholder. My completion percentage after 12 hours? Approximately 8.3% of the theoretical full dex. And I genuinely cannot tell if that's because I'm missing areas or because those Pokemon simply don't exist in this build yet.

THE POKEMON LEAGUE TOURNAMENT

The replacement of the Elite Four with a Tournament format is genuinely intriguing from a design standpoint. Different structure, different flow. But I hit a wall before I could fully evaluate it — and I mean that literally. Progression blockers that may or may not be intentional.

Missable event warning! Save before entering ANY major story location. Alpha builds are unpredictable.

QUALITY OF LIFE FEATURES

What I COULD verify:

  • Physical/Special Split: Confirmed functional
  • New moves and abilities: Present, though documentation is sparse
  • Decapitalization: Clean implementation
  • Updated sprites: Consistent across what I encountered

What I COULD NOT verify:

  • Shiny hunting methods — no DexNav equivalent detected
  • Infinite Repel system or similar QoL
  • Trade evolution alternatives
  • Full regional Pokedex boundaries

ANOMALIES DETECTED

Minor graphical glitches in certain tile transitions. Nothing game-breaking during my expedition, but the alpha label exists for a reason. I encountered no hard crashes, which is actually impressive for this development stage.

FINAL EXPEDITION NOTES

Look. I want to love this region. The bones are there — new region, massive potential dex, interesting story hooks with the companion system, tournament-style League. FAARSAL clearly has vision.

But as a completionist? As someone whose brain literally cannot rest until every Pokedex slot shows CAUGHT? This is not ready for a full expedition. I cannot confirm if a Living Dex is possible without cheats because I cannot confirm the dex is fully implemented. That's not a criticism — it's an alpha. But it means my usual 85-hour completion runs are simply not possible here. Yet.

I'm flagging this region for re-expedition when it hits Beta or Full Release. The foundation suggests something special could emerge. But right now? My spreadsheet has too many question marks, and that keeps me up at night.

Current Completion Status: 8.3% (estimated)
Projected Full Completion Time: UNKNOWN (content incomplete)
Recommendation: Monitor for updates. Do not attempt Living Dex runs.
