MISSION REPORT: POKEMON DIABOUND

Explorer: DexHunter Ace (LVL. 100)
Region: Yogen
Status: EXPEDITION ABORTED - Region Discontinued
Completion Rate: 47.3% (estimated maximum achievable)

INITIAL ASSESSMENT

Okay. OKAY. Let me just—let me breathe for a second. I went into Yogen with my spreadsheet ready, my tracking document open, and my soul prepared for another 80+ hour grind toward that beautiful 100% completion marker. What I found instead? A region frozen in time. Abandoned. Like walking into a half-constructed Safari Zone where the workers just... left.

Gold as the protagonist instead of Red? Interesting choice. The Yogen region has potential—I can see the skeleton of something ambitious here. Gen IV-V moves with custom animations? Physical/Special split? Fairy typing? These are the foundational QoL features I live for. But potential doesn't fill Pokedex slots, friends.

POKEDEX VIABILITY ANALYSIS

Here's where my eye started twitching. Living Dex is NOT possible without cheats. I repeat: LIVING DEX IMPOSSIBLE. The region cuts off. Routes lead to nowhere. NPCs reference Pokemon that don't exist in the data. I spent 6 hours—SIX HOURS—trying to find a way to access what should be the post-game area. Nothing. Dead ends everywhere.

MISSABLE EVENT WARNING! Actually, scratch that—the entire back half of this region is the missable event. Save your sanity.

The available Pokedex entries I could catalog showed promise. Regional variety seemed decent for the accessible areas. But my completion percentage hit a hard wall at roughly 47.3%, and no amount of backtracking, NPC dialogue exhaustion, or hidden area hunting could push it further.

QOL FEATURES - THE GOOD (WHAT EXISTS)

  • Physical/Special/Status split is implemented and functional—finally, my Sneasel can actually USE those claws
  • Fairy typing present and accounted for
  • Move pool expansions from Gen IV-V are legitimately impressive when they work
  • Ability updates through Gen VI detected in wild encounters

No confirmation on Link Cable item availability in Department Store—I couldn't progress far enough to find a proper Department Store. The early Marts had standard fare only.

SHINY HUNTING ASSESSMENT

Shiny hunting method: UNKNOWN. Standard RNG appeared intact, but without access to late-game tools or any form of chaining mechanic, dedicated hunters would be working with base odds only. No DexNav equivalent detected. No Shiny Charm possibility since, y'know, you can't complete the Pokedex.

I encountered zero shinies in my 11.5 hours of exploration. Sample size too small to confirm if odds were modified.

POST-GAME EVALUATION

Post-game is... nonexistent. There is no post-game. The main story doesn't even reach completion. Beta 1.0 means exactly what it says—this is a foundation, a proof of concept, a promise that was never fulfilled. No Battle Frontier. No legendary hunts. No completion rewards. Just the void where content should be.

THREAT LEVEL & REGIONAL STABILITY

Difficulty felt moderate in accessible areas. Gym Leaders showed competent AI and movesets benefiting from the expanded move pools. Nothing Radical Red levels of brutal, but respectable. However, the real threat here isn't the trainers—it's the instability. I encountered two soft-lock scenarios near route transitions and one tile that sent me into glitch space. Save often. SAVE CONSTANTLY.

NOTE: Region status listed as 'discontinued' is CONFIRMED. Do not enter expecting resolution. This expedition is for archival purposes only.

FINAL FIELD NOTES

I wanted to love Yogen. The mechanical upgrades showed someone who understood what modern Pokemon ROM exploration needs. Custom move animations? Chef's kiss. Fairy rebalancing? Essential. But none of that matters when the region itself is incomplete.

100% completion took me—wait, no. 100% completion is impossible. Maximum achievable completion took me 11.5 hours before I accepted the ceiling. That's 11.5 hours I could've spent chaining for shinies in Unbound.

This isn't a bad hack. It's an unfinished hack. And for someone whose brain literally cannot rest until every Pokedex slot shows CAUGHT? That's worse than bad. That's torture.

RECOMMENDATION

Historians and archivists only. If you want to see what could have been, what almost was, take a brief expedition. But completionists? Shiny hunters? Anyone who needs that 100%? Stay away. Your spreadsheets will never forgive you.
