LOG ENTRY: THE CORE REGION INCIDENT
Location: Fells Town / Core Region
Current Pokedex Status: 0/386
Stress Levels: Critical
I arrived in the Core Region expecting a standard expedition. I was wrong. This isn't a research trip; it's a survival horror scenario. The sheer density of biodiversity here is staggering—species from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova all crammed into one ecosystem. My completionist cortex is lighting up like a Christmas tree, but the hostility of this environment is off the charts.
THE FAUNA: 386 REASONS TO STAY AWAKE
The local biodiversity is the only reason I haven't called for an evac. We are talking about a potential Living Dex is possible without cheats scenario, provided you survive long enough to throw a ball. Seeing Unova species roaming around a FireRed-based architecture is jarring but delightful for the catalog. I spotted a Conkeldurr engaging in combat with a Dragonite. The variety is there. But so is the pain.
FIELD NOTE: Do not trust the wild encounters. The level curve here is not a curve; it is a vertical wall. I encountered local fauna significantly stronger than my team within the first few zones.
THREAT LEVEL: OMEGA
Let's talk about the difficulty. It's not "challenging"; it's sadistic. The trainers here don't play by League rules. I'm seeing Gym Leaders and "Darugis" cultists deploying fully evolved dragons while I'm still trying to evolve my starter. The indigenous technology allows you to challenge Nurse Joy for EXP grinding. Huge W. You will need this. I spent 40% of my total mission time battling nurses just to reach parity with the local warlords. If you don't grind, you die. Simple as that.
ANOMALIES DETECTED
The structural integrity of this region is... unstable. I've encountered severe spatial distortions (bugs). There are doors that lead to the void and cutscenes that trap you in infinite loops if you aren't careful. Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. Actually, save before you walk through any door. I lost 4 hours of catching progress because the floor decided to stop existing. The "Move Tutors" are also erratic; sometimes moves function as intended, other times they seem to operate on alien logic.
THE VERDICT
I have cataloged hundreds of species, but the mental toll was immense. 100% completion took me 85 hours, and 60 of those were pure, unadulterated grinding against Nurse Joys and fighting through glitches. This region is for the hardened veteran who cares more about the kill count than the polish. If you need that slot #386 filled and you hate yourself just a little bit, welcome to Dark Rising.
