SECTOR ANALYSIS: THE ZARD SINGULARITY
Log Entry: Day 1. The heat in this region is unbearable. I arrived expecting the standard Kanto biodiversity—Pidgeys, Rattatas, the usual fodder for slots #016 and #019. Instead, I am staring at a winged abomination chirping in the grass. It looks like a bird, but it has the snout of a dragon and the burning tail of a starter. The locals call it "Pidgezard". I call it an affront to Arceus.
My mission was simple: Catalog the local fauna. But the Zardification virus has infected everything. Everything.
THE POKEDEX: 151 SHADES OF ORANGE
As a completionist, I thrive on variety. This region offers none. The Pokedex is a monolithic shrine to a single evolutionary line. I spent three hours tracking down a "Jyglyzard" just to confirm it wasn't a hallucination. It was. It had wings. It breathed fire.
FIELD NOTE: Do not attempt to use Grass-types in this sector. Every single wild entity possesses a secondary Fire typing and learns Ember at Level 1. The threat level for Bulbasaur starters is critical.
I have filled 120 slots so far. 100% completion took me 85 hours of agonizing repetition, mostly because I refused to believe the Fossils were also Zard-themed until I saw the "Omazard" with my own eyes in the Pewter Museum. It’s not just a sprite swap; it’s a total ecological collapse.
MECHANICS & ANOMALIES
The local technology is archaic (Gen 1 standard). Inventory space is limited, and the PC system is a nightmare for organizing a Living Dex. I found myself instinctively reaching for modern conveniences that simply aren't there. I kept hoping a Link Cable item is available in Department Store. Huge W. if it were true, but alas, this is a purist's nightmare. You are trapped in the 1996 trade architecture.
The combat meta is broken. With everything sporting a Fire secondary type, Water moves are the only currency that matters. However, since the Water types are also part Fire, they take neutral damage from their own element. It is a tactical mess.
THE VERDICT
This expedition was less of a "hunt" and more of a fever dream. While the dedication to the bit is admirable—changing every name and sprite is no small feat—it offers zero nutritional value for a serious Hunter. There is no post-game meat here, just more fire.
WARNING: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. The entity known as "Mewzard" (or is it Zardtwo?) is volatile. One mistake and that slot remains empty forever.
I’m packing up my gear. My Pokedex is full of dragons, my eyebrows are singed, and I need to go organize a box of Bidoofs just to feel grounded again.
