LOG ENTRY: THE GENETIC DISASTER
I don't know which one of you desk-jockeys at Headquarters thought it would be funny to send me to the Charged Red sector. I explicitly requested a standard Kanto patrol. Maybe a little Vanilla+ action. Instead, I stepped off the S.S. Anne into a region that looks like a mad scientist's playground.
The dossier said "Fusion Pokemon". I thought maybe that meant a Nidoran sitting on a Nidorino. No. These are honest-to-Arceus abominations. I hate Fakemon that look like Digimon, and this entire ecosystem is built on them. I saw things that shouldn't exist. Nature has laws for a reason, and this region breaks every single one of them.
THE TERRAIN: A FRESH COAT OF PAINT
I will give credit where it is due, even if it pains me. The geography of this region has been remapped, and it actually looks decent. It's Kanto, but the paths are different, the towns have shifted slightly. It feels familiar but new.
The movement tech is up to spec. I could run indoors, which is the only modern invention I actually respect. Feels just like 1999 (but faster). If they had just populated these nice new maps with regular Pidgeys and Rattatas, we would be having a very different conversation. Instead, I'm fighting genetic mishaps.
THE ANOMALIES
Let's talk about the combat. They've introduced the "Fairy" type here. Too many modern features ruined the vibe. Back in my day, dragons were weak to ice, and that's how we liked it! Now I have to worry about pink ribbons slaying my Gyarados? And don't get me started on the "Physical/Special Split". I know the young recruits love it, but I miss the days when Fire was Special and Ghost was Physical, even if it made no sense.
FIELD NOTE: The local shops are selling items cheaper than standard retail. Finally, a break for a retired explorer's pension.
THE SHINY EPIDEMIC
Another thing—the local wildlife is glowing. Everywhere. The shiny odds in this sector are astronomically high. Back in my day, finding a Shiny meant you were the chosen one. Now, it seems like they hand them out like candy. It cheapens the thrill of the hunt. If everyone is special, no one is.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I tried to enjoy the remapped Kanto. I really did. But I can't look past the fusions. It's not natural. No gimmicks, just good Pokemon. That's all I ask for. This expedition is strictly for those young Rangers who think "cool" means gluing a Pikachu to a Charizard.
