LOG ENTRY: REGION CAOS 2
Timestamp: 0600 Hours
Location: Unknown Route (Map data unreliable)
I packed my rucksack with the essentials: Potions, Antidotes, and a fresh set of AA batteries for the flashlight. HQ told me to investigate this "CAOS 2" region. The name alone should have been a warning. Back in my day, chaos was just a Zubat confusing your Blastoise in Mt. Moon. We didn't need a whole region dedicated to it.
THE LANDSCAPE
I'll give credit where it's due—the local architecture has seen a renovation. The intel mentioned "New Tiles," and indeed, the trees look a bit greener, the buildings a bit sharper. The sprite work is faithful to Gen 3 style, mostly. It doesn't look like someone spilled a box of crayons on the screen, which is more than I can say for some of these neon-colored regions the young whippersnappers are exploring these days. It felt grounded enough to start my trek.
THE ANOMALIES
But then the headache started. I encountered a local creature, looked like a standard specimen. I threw out my trusty Electric-type to deal with a Flying threat, and... nothing. Ineffective? Impossible.
My Pokedex (the Official Intel) claims "Types changed." Why? What was wrong with the way things were? If it has wings, electricity should shock it. That's just science. Changing the fundamental laws of nature isn't "innovation," it's just confusing for an old explorer like me. Too many modern features ruined the vibe. I spent half my time guessing what element a Pokemon was supposed to be instead of battling.
THE MISSION STRUCTURE
And don't get me started on the itinerary. The locals insist that I "execute all sidequests" to properly finish the journey. Back in Kanto, if I wanted to help a youngster find his lost Rattata, I did it out of the goodness of my heart, not because the universe wouldn't let me challenge the Champion otherwise.
NOTE: Do not rely on your memories of the 1999 type chart. This region does not respect the old ways. Treat every encounter as a potential anomaly.
THE BATTLE MAISON
They've built something called a "Battle Maison." Sounds fancy. Too fancy. I walked in, expecting a good old-fashioned stat check, and found a bunch of convoluted rules. What is a 'Mega' evolution? Sounds broken. I just want to hit things with Hyper Beam until they faint. Is that too much to ask?
CONCLUSION
This expedition left me tired and confused. It tries to look like the FireRed I know, but under the hood, it's been tinkered with too much. It lacks that straightforward charm. No gimmicks, just good Pokemon. That's all I wanted. Instead, I got homework and type-chart amnesia.
