LOG ENTRY: RETURN TO SECTOR KANTO (VARIANT 5-Y)
I have returned from the field. My expectations were low, and the reality was... statistically confusing. This region, dubbed Blue Sea Edition, posits a timeline five years post-Johto. It features Gold and Crystal attempting to reclaim glory in a Kanto that has undergone severe terraforming. While the premise suggests a shift in the meta, the execution leaves much to be desired regarding engine fidelity and competitive integrity.
THE TERRAIN: GEOMETRIC INSTABILITY
The intel promised a "brand new Kanto with remapped areas." In practice, this manifests as a navigational hazard. The mapping lacks the polish of authorized sectors. I found myself frequently checking the collision data just to ensure I could walk through a door. It feels less like a natural evolution of the landscape and more like a chaotic rearrangement of assets.
FIELD NOTE: The visual fidelity is inconsistent. While new sprites are present, they clash with the legacy tile sets. Immersion is broken when an updated sprite stands on a background from 2004.
THREAT ASSESSMENT: TEAM MAGMA & THE AI
The hostile entities, specifically Team Magma, have infiltrated this sector. Their presence implies a threat level escalation, yet their tactical acumen is negligible. I ran a standard damage calculation on a Grunt's Mightyena: 252 Atk vs 0 HP / 0 Def. The result? It used Howl three times while I set up a Swords Dance sweep. The AI is rudimentary at best.
Furthermore, the level curve is erratic. Acceptable challenge, but the level curve is infinite. You go from battling level 15 mobs to a sudden spike in Gym Leader BST (Base Stat Total) without adequate grinding spots. It forces the player into a corner where strategy is replaced by brute force leveling, which is an insult to my time.
MECHANICAL INTEGRITY
Here is where the simulation truly degrades. I attempted to utilize a Sneasel, expecting it to function as a physical sweeper. It did not. The Physical/Special split is mandatory. No excuses. Releasing a hack in this era without updating the damage formula renders half the Pokedex competitively non-viable. Why give me new heroes and rivals if the engine is stuck in Gen 3 stagnation?
- Anomalies Detected: The version tag reads "Beta 1" despite claims of completion. This discrepancy is evident in the dialogue scripting, which suffers from severe translation decay.
- Documentation: Did you even check the Documentation files? Because the in-game events contradict the mission briefing entirely.
FINAL ANALYSIS
Pokemon Blue Sea Edition attempts to inject new narrative life into a tired region, but it lacks the technical foundation to support its ambition. It is not a test of skill; it is a test of patience against an outdated engine and unpolished map design. If you are looking for a rigorous tactical simulator, look elsewhere.
