MISSION LOG: DIMENSIONAL DISSONANCE
Timestamp: 0300 Hours. Location: Littleroot Town... or is it Pallet? My GPS is screaming.
Listen to me carefully. I packed for Kanto. The briefing (Official Intel) clearly stated Base ROM: FireRed. I brought my VS Seeker. I brought my Teachy TV. But as soon as I booted up the simulation, the atmospheric readings shifted. The intro screen flashed "Pokemon Blue Ice Mx", but the smell? That's salt water and trumpets. That's Hoenn. This is an Emerald construct disguised as a FireRed mission. Or maybe it's a FireRed rom grafted onto Emerald architecture? The instability is giving me a migraine.
THE CATCHABILITY INDEX
I started sweating immediately. Not because of the difficulty, but because my Pokedex slots were looking dangerously vanilla. I'm scanning the tall grass on Route 101. Zigzagoon. Wurmple. Poochyena. Where are the regional variants? Where is the "Blue Ice"?
NOTE: Do not expect a shifted Pokedex. The local wildlife appears to be standard issue Hoenn inhabitants.
I spent 4 hours grinding for a Ralts just to feel something. The "New Title Screen" promised innovation, but the bushes are rustling with the same old sprites. For a completionist, this is purgatory. I need new targets. I need slot #387. I need a reason to throw a ball.
THE ANOMALY: FEATURES OR LACK THEREOF
The intel listed "New Title, New Intro Screen" as key features. They weren't lying. That's... it? I searched the marts for a Link Stone. I checked the code for a modernized exp share. Nothing. It feels like a simulation that was abandoned by its architect on Day 2.
However, because the base structure appears to be Emerald, technically, the Post-game is massive. Battle Frontier included. But that's not a credit to the "Blue Ice" modification; that's just the enduring legacy of the Hoenn region carrying the weight. It's like buying a new house and realizing the only renovation was a sticker on the mailbox.
FINAL FIELD NOTES
I tried to force a 100% run. I really did. 100% completion took me 85 hours. mainly because I refused to believe there wasn't a secret "Ice" event hidden somewhere. Spoiler: There wasn't. Just the standard Regi puzzles and the standard Rayquaza climb.
- Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. Specifically, any cave, because if this Rom is unstable, you might clip through the floor.
- Visuals: The title screen is the only unique landmark.
- Vibe: Confused.
If you are looking to fill a Living Dex, go elsewhere. This is a ghost town with a fresh coat of paint on the entrance sign.
