MISSION LOG: DAY 0 - THE PARALYSIS OF CHOICE
I landed in the Kanto sector, but the geography... it's unhinged. Local intel stated this was an "Open World" simulation. They weren't lying. I stood at the intro screen for 45 minutes just sweating over the starting town selection. If I start in Celadon, do I miss early route encounters near Pallet? Does the scaling algorithm account for EV yield?
My completionist brain is screaming. Usually, Route 1 is Route 1. Here? Everywhere is Route 1 if you're brave enough. I eventually deployed in Saffron. The non-linearity is a nightmare for organized cataloging, but a dream for the chaotic hunter.
THE CATCH REPORT: CATALOGING THE CHAOS
The local fauna consists primarily of Gen 1 through 3 specimens. I've confirmed the presence of the Physical/Special Split technology—thank Arceus. It makes using a Gyarados actually viable without wanting to tear my hair out. However, the distribution is erratic due to the open nature of the region.
FIELD NOTE: Keep your eyes peeled. The encounter tables shift based on location, not just progression. I spent 4 hours in a single patch of grass just to verify a 1% encounter rate.
Living Dex is possible without cheats. I've cross-referenced the encounter slots. You can snag all the starters if you know where to look, though some require scouring the corners of the map that the scaling level system makes dangerous early on. 100% completion took me 85 hours, mostly because I refused to leave an area until I had every regional variant boxed.
ANOMALIES DETECTED (BUGS & GLITCHES)
This region is designated "Alpha v2.4H". In explorer terms, that means "Watch your step." I encountered several visual glitches where textures would bleed—Matrix style. It's not game-breaking, but it breaks immersion when a building flickers out of existence.
The level scaling is the biggest threat. It works, mostly. But occasionally, you walk into a Trainer battle expecting a Level 12 Pidgey and get slapped by a Level 40 monstrosity because the game decided you had too many badges for this zip code. Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. Or any gym. Or a house. Just save constantly. The stability is questionable.
QUALITY OF LIFE ASSESSMENT
The Day/Night cycle adds flavor, but for a hunter, it adds anxiety. Are there night-exclusive spawns? The documentation is sparse. I had to operate on instinct. On the plus side, the freedom to tackle Gyms in any order is a massive W for replayability, even if it messes with my spreadsheet organization.
However, the lack of a dedicated DexNav or modern tracking tools hurts. I'm doing this old school—pen, paper, and mania.
FINAL LOG ENTRY
I have cataloged 98.4% of the available species. The last few are elusive, likely hidden behind the Alpha-state anomalies. It's a thrill ride for those who hate hand-holding, but a stress test for those who need order.
