MISSION LOG: ENTRY 001 - THE HOEJO SECTOR
Location: Hoejo Region, Professor's Lab
Current Pokedex Status: 1/386 (0.2%)
Heart Rate: Elevated
Touchdown in the Hoejo Region. My transfer from the Corna sector was... bureaucratically messy. The local authorities (my parents) attempted to blockade the mission, citing age restrictions. I bypassed them via a comms link to the regional Professor. Standard operating procedure for aspiring Ace Trainers.
Upon arrival, the landscape scans indicate a complete terraforming project. This isn't Kanto anymore. The cartography is fresh, the routes are unfamiliar, and the audio frequencies have been replaced with retro-waves from the Johto era (Gold/Silver soundtracks). It triggers a nostalgia response, but I can't let that distract me from the data collection.
THE TAXONOMY REPORT
The local Professor handed me a Johto starter. I went with Totodile. Good bite force. Immediate concern: The Pokedex interface is standard Generation III. I am scanning the tall grass like a maniac, trying to determine the encounter slots.
- Availability: The biodiversity seems to focus on Gen 1-3. I've spotted regional variants in the mapping, but the fauna is familiar.
- The Grind: Experience yields are standard. No accelerated growth detected.
- Anomalies: The locals speak in a broken dialect. The text parsing is rough—likely a translation layer issue or a hurried transcript. It breaks immersion when the Rival challenges you to a battle with syntax errors, but the combat data remains valid.
OPERATIONAL HAZARDS
I spent three hours headbutting trees to confirm Heracross availability. The encounter rates are erratic. Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave to the north of the second town; I detected a static encounter that looks like it doesn't respawn if you faint it. Amateur mistake if you don't save. I didn't make it, obviously, but you might.
FIELD NOTE: The advertised "New Region" is geographically small but dense. Backtracking is frequent. Bring Repels. I repeat, bring Repels. I have not found an Infinite Repel vendor, which is a severe oversight in modern exploration protocols.
THE VERDICT
I pushed through the Elite Four to verify the post-game integrity. 100% completion took me 38 hours. It's a brisk expedition. The region of Hoejo is a valid waypoint for travelers looking for new scenery, but it lacks the advanced QoL tech we see in the Unbound sector. There is no DexNav to optimize my shiny hunting, which caused me physical pain.
However, I can confirm that a Living Dex is possible without cheats, provided you are willing to scour every tile of the map. The distribution is tight, but the slots are filled. It scratches the itch, but it doesn't cure the fever.
