MISSION START: THE UNOVA-HOENN PARADOX
I touched down expecting the familiar crisp lines of the Nintendo DS Unova region. Instead, my boots hit the ground and the physics engine screamed Game Boy Advance. This is a Class-3 Demake Anomaly. The locals call it "Black 2 – 251 Edition," but my Pokedex scanners are picking up heavy readings of Emerald source code beneath the surface.
My heart rate is elevated. Not because of the danger, but because of the numbers. The mission title promised 251. The field intel stated a cap of 151. If I can't catch the Johto set, I'm going to have a breakdown.
THE HUNT: DATA DISCREPANCIES
I spent the first three hours turning over every rock for a Sentret. Nothing. Just Rattata. It appears the "251" in the title is a cruel decoy. This is a Kanto-centric ecosystem grafted onto a Unova skeleton. Living Dex is possible without cheats, provided your definition of "Living" stops abruptly at Mew. For a completionist, this is like eating a sandwich with no filling. I have empty boxes named "Johto" that are just gathering dust.
NOTE: The sprite work is a chaotic mix. You'll see Gen 5 structures with Gen 3 movement. It triggers my OCD, but the visual novelty is undeniable.
NAVIGATION & QUALITY OF LIFE
The local technology is surprisingly advanced for a GBA substrate. They've installed a Taxi System that renders the Fly HM obsolete. This is a massive efficiency boost for backtracking. However, the map geometry is unstable. "Many areas are not the same as their origin," the intel warned. They weren't kidding. I walked into a gym and ended up in what felt like a glitch city variant.
Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. I encountered a static encounter that didn't respawn after a crit. Rookie mistake on my part, but the game offered no second chances.
FINAL LOG ENTRY
100% completion took me 12 hours. Too short. Far too short. I didn't even need my caffeine drip. While it's a fascinating artifact for historians curious about demakes, for a Hunter, it's an appetizer when I ordered a banquet. The Pokedex reads 151/151. It says "Complete." My soul says "Where is Tyranitar?"
