LOG ENTRY: ERNAH REGION // DAY 04 // 03:00 AM
I haven't blinked in forty minutes. My Pokedex is sitting at 92% and the caffeine is wearing off, but the Ernah region—designation Pokemon Battle Fire—refuses to let me leave. I came here hearing rumors of a cybernetic anomaly known as "Virus Lugia," but my primary directive remains unchanged: Catalog. Everything.
This isn't a vacation. This is a hunt.
THE LANDSCAPE: VISUALS & TERRAIN
The visual data in Ernah is a strange amalgamation. The local architecture (tilesets) seems to have been imported from the FireRed sector, yet the underlying physics engine is unmistakably Ruby-based. It creates a jarring but vibrant atmosphere. The maps are new, which is a relief—I'm tired of walking through Hoenn's layout in disguise. However, the terrain can be confusing; I found myself backtracking frequently due to unclear pathing.
FIELD NOTE: Keep your eyes peeled in Macavayenn Town. The layout is deceptive, and vital NPCs blend into the background.
THE CATCHABILITY INDEX
Here is where the sweat starts. The biodiversity here is... unstable. The Official Intel promised "New Pokemon," and they delivered, but it feels chaotic. We have species from the Sinnoh sector wandering around, but the documentation is nonexistent. I spent three hours in a single patch of grass just to confirm if a Starly was a 1% encounter or a hallucination.
For a completionist, this region is a mixed bag. I haven't found a reliable way to evolve trade-dependent species efficiently. I'm frantically searching for a Link Stone equivalent. Living Dex is possible without cheats, hypothetically, but without a guide, you are flying blind. I had to catch everything just to be safe.
THREAT ASSESSMENT: TEAM VYRIS
The hostile entity known as Team Vyris is aggressive. They aren't just stealing Pokemon; they are messing with the region's code. The threat level is moderate. Their "Virus Lugia" project is the centerpiece of the expedition. It's not just a boss fight; it's a capture event.
WARNING: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave. If you knock out the cybernetic legend, it does not respawn. I almost threw my device across the room when a critical hit nearly ruined my 100% run.
QUALITY OF LIFE (OR LACK THEREOF)
This is an older generation excavation. Do not expect the luxuries of the modern age. I checked every mart for QoL items. The PSS (Physical/Special Split) seems absent or inconsistent, which makes teambuilding a headache for a strategist like me. I long for the days where the Link Cable item is available in Department Store. Huge W.—but here, I'm left guessing.
The grinding is real. The level curve spikes near the endgame, forcing me to massacre the local wildlife just to keep my team at parity. It’s grueling, but the dopamine hit when the Dex number goes up makes it bearable.
FINAL LOG
100% completion took me 85 hours. Okay, maybe 40 actual hours, but the stress made it feel like 85. Pokemon Battle Fire is a completed mission, but it lacks the polish of top-tier regions. It’s a rugged, wild expedition for those who don't mind getting their hands dirty in an older engine.
