MISSION LOG: ENTRY 494
Location: Region of Zotoxu (Coordinates Unstable)
Current Pokedex: 124/???
Mental State: Fraying at the edges.
I arrived in Zotoxu expecting a standard expedition. What I found was a fever dream. The local dialect is... broken. I'm talking major cognitive dissonance. NPCs speak in riddles about "Uncle Nacho" and "Route 0.01 degrees." As a completionist, I need precision. I need data. This region offers neither.
THE CATCHING ENVIRONMENT
The biodiversity is all over the place. We have anomalies from Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn mixing in the tall grass without rhyme or reason. I spotted entities from the anime series making distinct vocalizations—a nice touch, but purely cosmetic. My biggest gripe? Living Dex is possible without cheats... theoretically? But without a documentation spreadsheet or a coherent map, I am flying blind. I spent three hours in a patch of grass near Llovizburg trying to find a 1% encounter, only to realize the area might not even have a rare slot. My blood pressure cannot handle this ambiguity.
TECHNICAL INTEGRITY & QOL
The local technology (base Ruby engine) is showing its age, despite the new tilesets. The visuals are vibrant, I'll give them that—the Day/Night cycle adds a nice layer of temporal immersion. However, the navigation is a nightmare. I encountered a critical structural flaw near the port.
FIELD WARNING: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave north of Uncle Nacho's house. The event flags are sticky. If you trigger the Team Tranza cutscene from the wrong angle, the game hangs. I lost 4 hours of shiny hunting progress. Unacceptable.
I looked everywhere for modern amenities. Is there a Physical/Special split? Inconsistent. Is there a way to auto-run? No. I was praying to find that the Link Cable item is available in Department Store. Huge W.—but alas, the mart inventory is standard Gen 3 fare. Trade evolutions are a gamble here.
THE VERDICT
I wanted to love Zotoxu. The premise of a new region is always intoxicating. But the language barrier (bad translation) and the instability make it a completionist's purgatory. Usually, 100% completion took me 85 hours on a map this size, but I had to abort the mission early. I can't catch them all if the world itself is trying to erase my save file.
