MISSION LOG: JOHTO SECTOR (ROCKET DIVISION)
Status: HYPER-VENTILATING.
Pokedex Count: STUCK at 38% (Regional Cap).
Playtime: 12 Hours, 43 Minutes.
Listen to me carefully. I don't usually work for the bad guys. I'm a collector, not a criminal. But when Headquarters dropped me into Pokemon Apollo, I realized something that made my completionist heart skip a beat: Theft is the ultimate catch mechanic. Why spend hours chaining DexNav encounters when you can just mug a Youngster for his Rattata? It's efficient. It's brutal. It's... unfortunately, incomplete.
THE PROCUREMENT PROTOCOL (GAMEPLAY)
The mission structure here is radically different. No Gym Badges. We operate on "Missions" from Giovanni. This is a massive deviation from standard League regulations. You start with Ekans, Koffing, or Grimer. I chose Grimer (shiny check: failed after 45 resets, moved on for efficiency).
The stealing mechanic is the headline feature here. You see a trainer? You battle them. You win? You can take their Pokemon or their item. Living Dex is possible without cheats—in theory—because you are literally stripping the NPCs of their assets. This is a collector's dream. I snagged a rare Porygon from a scientist in Celadon just by beating him up. No Game Corner coin grinding required. Huge W.
ANOMALIES & QOL REPORT
Let's talk logistics. The region has been updated with a Day/Night cycle, which is essential for those time-based evolutions (Umbreon, I’m looking at you). The combat engine has been upgraded to include the Physical/Special split, though the lack of icons in the status screen is a minor annoyance for my optimizing brain. I need to know if my Sludge Bomb is hitting Defense or Sp. Def at a glance!
However, the most critical piece of tech I found: A new item called Glow Stone will evolve all Pokemon that would normally evolved by trading. I found one early on. No Link Cable needed. This allows for seamless evolution of the Haunter I... acquired... from a passing trainer.
THE BETA WALL (WARNING)
Here is where the sweat starts. This map is labeled "Beta 0.3". Do you know what that does to a man who needs to see the credits roll to feel alive? It kills him. The content is fantastic—playing as a villain, interacting with anime characters like Jesse and James—but the road ends abruptly. 100% completion took me 12 hours, simply because there was nothing left to complete. I hit the invisible wall of "To Be Continued" and nearly threw my Pokedex into the ocean.
FIELD NOTE: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave near Mt. Moon. The scripting for the mission triggers is strict. If you mess up the stealth section, you might miss the opportunity to snag specific unique items. Save early, save often.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
Pokemon Apollo is a tantalizing fragment of a Master Ball tier game. The ability to steal removes the RNG frustration of hunting, but the unfinished state means my collection will forever remain stagnant. It is a beautiful, incomplete specimen.
