MISSION LOG: REGION YOGEN / WAR-TORN KANTO
Explorer: DexHunter Ace
Clearance: Level 100 (Maniac Class)
Current Pokedex Status: 98.4% (Sweating profusely)
THE BIOLOGICAL CENSUS (THE DEX)
Listen to me carefully. I came here expecting a standard Kanto remix, but my sensors are screaming. We have Vega-sector Fakemon roaming the tall grass. I repeat: Unauthorized biological entities detected. For a completionist, this is both a nightmare and a paradise. I spent four hours in Route 1 just trying to verify if the local bird variant evolves at level 16 or if I need a Stone.
The biodiversity is chaotic. You have Alolan forms mixing with standard Kanto fauna, plus these alien species from the Vega region. My spreadsheet is a mess. I had to manually log entries for creatures that shouldn't exist in this dimension. Living Dex is possible without cheats, but only if you are willing to scour every inch of the new Yogen region. The encounter rates are erratic, and some of these new forms have catch rates that feel bugged—or maybe they just hate being captured.
ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS & ANOMALIES
The topography of Kanto has been decimated. This isn't the happy-go-lucky region you remember. The "War" backstory isn't just flavor text; it's a terrain hazard. Paths are blocked by debris, cities are structurally compromised. It creates a labyrinthine map design that complicates backtracking. I missed a crucial item because a building looked like background art but was actually a dungeon entrance.
FIELD NOTE: The "Dark Sense of Humour" advertised in the briefing is prevalent. NPCs don't just give tutorials; they give trauma. It's distracting when you're just trying to find the Move Deleter.
OPERATIONAL MECHANICS (QOL)
Let's talk logistics. The battle engine has been updated with movesets inspired by Roaming Red, which means difficulty spikes are real. I walked into a Gym expecting a sweeping victory and got walled by a strategy I haven't seen since the Battle Frontier. However, the QoL is inconsistent. I found myself yearning for an infinite repel system that never came. Navigating the menus feels a bit vintage, specifically the GBA era clunkiness.
Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave to the north of the starting town. The script triggers a sequence that locks you out of a specific encounter if you don't have the right party members. I almost threw my Game Boy Advance SP across the room.
THE VERDICT
This expedition was a fever dream. The fusion of Vega Fakemon into a FireRed base with a dark, war-torn narrative is unique, but it triggers my OCD. The polish isn't quite at the level of Unbound, and the "Beta 1.1" designation shows in the rough edges of the mapping and event flags. 100% completion took me 85 hours, mostly because I refused to look up a guide for the Fakemon evolutions.
Is it catchable? Yes. Is it stable? Mostly. But keep your save states frequent. This dimension is unstable.
