MISSION LOG: ENTRY 001 - ALTAR INSULA
Location: Altar Insula, Northern Sector
Status: Alpha 0.2 (Unstable Reality)
Current Team Condition: Optimal, though the RNG in this sector is erratic.
I have touched down in the region known as A New Dawn. My initial analysis of the atmospheric data suggests this is a simulation in its infancy—an "Alpha" build, as the locals call it. The landscape borrows heavily from the Kanto sector, specifically the FireRed architecture, yet the soul of the region feels distorted. Hostile entities here are not merely wild fauna; we are dealing with Shadow Pokemon.
THE THREAT ASSESSMENT
The local ecosystem is volatile. The region is split into two distinct zones, each boasting its own League. An ambitious structural design, certainly, but ambition often masks poor structural integrity. The primary threat here isn't just the Gym Leaders; it's the corruption mechanic.
I encountered a Shadow entity early in the expedition. The AI actually switches out on a resist. Impressive. However, the mechanics surrounding these Shadow forms—specifically the "Corruption" risk if familiarity isn't established—introduce a layer of volatility that makes standard Nuzlocke runs a headache. If your Pokemon becomes corrupted because you didn't pet it enough, that's not a tactical failure; that's a tedious subsystems management issue.
TACTICAL ANOMALIES
Upon arrival, I was presented with over ten starter options. While choice is generally preferred, from a competitive standpoint, this is a balancing nightmare. How is one supposed to balance the early-game level curve against such a wide variance in Base Stat Totals (BST)? A Chimchar handles the early game very differently than a Larvitar. It feels less like a curated experience and more like a randomizer without the seed generation.
FIELD NOTE: The "Corruption" mechanic operates outside standard battle calculations. Do not rely on your standard damage calc sheets here; the variables are undocumented.
ENGINE INTEGRITY
The most glaring issue with this expedition is the stability of the world itself. Being an Alpha 0.2 version last updated in 2019, the cracks in the code are visible. I encountered unfinished mapping and dialogue that leads nowhere. Did you even check the Documentation files? Because the developer clearly left several "To Be Announced" markers in the source code.
Furthermore, I must address the combat engine. The Physical/Special split is mandatory. No excuses. In a region attempting to introduce complex mechanics like Shadow Pokemon, relying on the antiquated Type-based split of Gen 3 is unacceptable. It renders mixed attackers useless and skews the viability of the expanded roster.
VERDICT
The Altar Insula shows promise of a high-tier challenge, specifically with the dual-league structure, but the expedition is currently impossible to complete satisfactorily. The world ends abruptly due to the Alpha status. It is a simulation frozen in time, unfinished and abandoned.
