LOG ENTRY: 0400 HOURS - HOKUM REGION BORDER
My eyes are burning. I haven't blinked in forty-five minutes because I was terrified I’d miss a frame of data. I have just returned from the Pokemon 2 Heroes simulation, and I need a medic—not for me, for my Game Boy Advance SP’s L-button. It’s stuck from scrolling through four different regional maps.
We need to talk about the scale of this operation. The intel promised a journey through Hokum, Kanto, Johto, and Rijon. That is not a typos. Four. Connected. Sectors. My completionist cortex is vibrating. Do you understand the logistical nightmare of tracking encounter tables across four landmasses? It is beautiful. It is terrifying.
IDENTITY THEFT OR UPGRADE?
I was deployed into the neural pathways of an entity known as Wally. Yes, that Wally. The sickly distinct timeline variant. The narrative parameters have shifted; we aren't Red or Leaf anymore. This offers a distinct psychological profile for the playthrough. Watching the sprite work for this character in the overworld was a fresh change of pace, though I spent most of my time staring at the tall grass.
THE HUNTING GROUNDS
The biodiversity here is chaotic. I encountered anomalies known as Z-Moves—high-yield combat maneuvers usually restricted to the Alola sector. Seeing them executed in a FireRed engine is jarring but effective for sweeping Gym Leaders who think they’re safe.
But here is the critical intel for my fellow collectors: Living Dex is possible without cheats. With the sheer geographical spread, the distribution of species is dense. I found a Dunsparce that had been genetically modified—buffed stats. It wasn't just a meme; it was a tank. I actually used it on my Elite Four team. 10/10 would use Serene Grace again.
ANOMALIES AND WARNINGS
Navigating four regions requires patience. The transition points between Hokum and Rijon can be disorienting. I found myself backtracking frequently to ensure I didn't miss a static encounter.
FIELD NOTE: Missable event warning! Save before entering the cave in the northern sector of Hokum. The secrets mentioned in the briefing are obscure, and if you trigger the wrong flag, you might lock yourself out of a legendary encounter.
The game claims to be a traditional RPG, but the sheer volume of content pushes the engine to its limits. I experienced minor visual glitches when Z-Moves triggered in dense weather conditions, but nothing that corrupted the save file.
THE VERDICT
Is this the ultimate hunting ground? It is ambitious. Perhaps too ambitious for a rookie, but for a veteran? It's a feast. 100% completion took me 85 hours. That is a lot of grinding, a lot of walking, and a lot of repels. If you are looking for a quick fix, leave. If you want to drown in encounter tables, welcome home.
