The CFRU Revolution
We talk a lot about "Gen 3" hacking vs "Decomp". But before the decomp era fully took over, one person pushed binary hacking so far it broke the scale.
That person is Skeli.
He didn't just make a game; he built the Complete Fire Red Upgrade (CFRU). Imagine giving a GameBoy Advance the brain of a Nintendo Switch. Dynamaxing, Raid Dens, Smarter AI... all injected into FireRed. Every modern hack you play today—Radical Red, Unbound, Inflamed Red—owes a debt to the CFRU.
Building Borrius
But Unbound isn't impressive just because of the code. It's the soul. Skeli built a region that runs on a timeline. Daily events, swarms, day/night cycles that actually affect gameplay.
"I wanted to make a game that felt like it could have been released on the GBA, but with the content density of a modern MMO." — Skeli
Skeli proved that with enough passion (and C code), the community can build the Pokemon game we've always dreamed of. Unbound isn't just a hack; it's a legacy.
